How do polynucleotides differ to injectable skin boosters, like Profhilo?

They are similar in terms of the effects, but rather than just providing hydration like hyaluronic acid skin boosters such as Profhilo or seventy hyal - polynucleotides communicate with the cells to make them produce collagen and elastin.

How many sessions do I need?

Ideal treatment consists of 2 sessions, 2-4 weeks apart, some clients require a third session followed by a further treatment around every 6-9 months for optimum results.

Can a polynucleotide treatment be combined with other treatments?

Absolutely! In fact, we often recommend it for best results. We often pair polynucleotide treatment with anti-wrinkle injections, RadioFrequency Microneedling or Profhilo as we find that combination treatments yield the best results.

We recommend you avoid this treatment if any of the following apply: if you are under 18, pregnant and breastfeeding or you have experienced hypersensitivity, severe allergies and it should be avoided in areas with active inflammation or infections(e.g. cysts, pimples, rashes or hives.)

Where is it administered?

Face, Neck, hands and decollatage.

After cleansing and applying a numbing cream, tiny injections are placed every 1-2 cms across the face or treatment area.

These tiny boluses containing the product then disperse and start the process of repairing and improving the skin over a few weeks.

This treatment can be a one off treatment can be completed to boost the skins hydration but for skin laxity or ageing skin at least 2 treatments are advised 2 weeks apart.

Allow yourself 24 hours of downtime to get over the treatment, and for any minor side-effects to subside such as raised areas or swelling.

What does it feel like afterwards?

As the numbing cream wears off there may be some slight tenderness, or no sensation at all, There is no pain just a slight sting or scratch during the treatment. If you experience considerable pain after the treatment, you must contact your practitioner as this could indicate that you are developing a complication.

After-treatment Recommendations:

immediately following treatment it is possible that small lumps will be seen at the injection sites. This is normal and temporary. They usually disappear after a few hours. There is occasionally some redness or itching at the site of injection. It may last for 1-2 days. Swelling and tenderness may be experienced for 2-3 days and bruising may occur which can last 1-10 days. Do not touch the injected area for a few hours and avoid make up for 24 hours. if possible it is recommended to sleep in a supine position(on your back) for the first few nights after treatment.

Do not touch the injection sites or area this could cause infections.
Avoid alcohol for 48 hours.
No extreme temperatures/treatments, which could lead to swelling, for 2 weeks.
Avoid Ibuprofen or Aspirin for 48 hours.
No make-up in the first 12 hours.
Do not do any vigorous exercise for 48 hours post treatment.
Protect your skin from the sun, as it may be sensitive -This could include covering exposed areas, seeking shade when the sun is at its hottest and using a daily sun care product of SPF30 or higher daily.
A small amount of Arnica Gel may be applied to any bruises up to 4 times daily.
Antihistamines may be taken to reduce any swelling.
Remember that skin boosters can take several weeks to have a an effect (everyone is different) as it’s main role is the bio-stimulation of your own collagen, thus giving a nice natural, youthful appearance.
We recommend 2 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart for the best results.
Profhilo will last 6 months on average depending on lifestyle and skin quality.
