What is Aqualyx® fat dissolving?

Aqualyx® is a water-like solution containing desoxycol acid. This bile acid is found within our bodies and functions to aid fat digestion. When injected directly into the treatment area, the solution liquefies fat cells which are then expelled naturally by your body.

When will I notice results of the treatment?

The treatment starts working immediately however due to the swelling you won’t see instant results. The dissolved fat cells go out of the body through lymphatic system.

On average a small area takes 2-3 weeks to see results and larger areas like stomachs 4-6 weeks. This is why we like to leave this amount of time in between sessions to see the progress.

How long should results last?

By the end of your treatment course, you should see results that last. It’s really important to maintain them by sticking to a healthy diet and getting regular exercise. We’ll talk through all of this in detail during your consultation/treatment.

How does it feel?

Aqualyx fat dissolving is relatively painless, some heat and stinging sensations are felt along with the initial scratch of the needles. After the treatment you may suffer redness, swelling, bruising & minor aches. These symptoms subside usually in 2 to 5 days.

Immediately after treatment, there may be slight redness, swelling, tenderness and an itching sensation in the treated area. This is a normal result of the injections. The inconvenience is temporary and generally disappears in a few days. If it continues or if other reactions occur, please call us. The results directly after the treatment should not be seen as the final result.
Avoid touching the treatment area 6 hours after the treatment. After that the area can be gently washed with soap and water, and light make-up can be applied in the case of the neck/jaw area after 24 hours minimum.
Until the initial swelling has resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. solarium and sunbathing) or extreme cold.
If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase the bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
If you experience persistent or increasing swelling and redness that might indicate infection, or bruising please notify us immediately.
Many clients are concerned with having visible signs following Aqualyx treatment. There are a few key steps you can take to help you both minimise visible bruising and swelling and recover as quickly as possible. The more closely you follow these steps, the faster you will recover and the fewer signs will be visible:
Avoid any blood thinners (e.g. alcohol, aspirin, Vitamin E, some herbal preparations and supplements) for 2 days prior to and 2 days after treatment. Thin blood results in increased risk of bruising, so help minimise bruising risk by avoiding anything that can thin your blood.
Take arnica tablets as follows: 2 tablets every 2 hours for 5 days prior to the treatment. The 30c potency are best.

Who is NOT suitable?

Aqualyx should not be administered to pregnant women, or to breast-feeding mothers.
Diabetic patients should avoid treatment with Aqualyx, as the potential complications of diabetes can complicate treatment.
Patients with autoimmune conditions such as scleroderma should avoid treatment.
Patients with severe liver disease should not be treated with Aqualyx, as the extra fat it has to process could overwork the liver.
Any patient with a history of an allergic reaction to an ingredient of Aqualyx should avoid treatment.
Patients with acute or chronic skin diseases in the affected area, or with infection in the skin overlying the treatment area are not suitable for treatment.
Patients on blood thinning medication, in particularly warfarin, will almost certainly not be suitable for treatment due to the risk of severe bruising.
Patients with severe kidney disease are not suitable for treatment.

Pre-treatment advice to clients

Advice for clients for the days leading up to their treatment
Your client will be required to come in for a consultation at least 24 hours prior to treatment.
They should avoid taking ibuprofen or drinking coffee or alcohol for 24 hours prior to treatment.
If you take aspirin, stop three days before the treatment, please obtain your doctor’s consent

Advice for clients for the day of their treatment

Be in good health on the day of treatment - reschedule if unwell
Eat and be well hydrated before your appointment to help with blood sugar levels.
Fill in a Treatment Consent Form and inform

Aftercare post treatment advice

Avoid anti-inflammatory drugs for at least 72 hours post treatment. Taking these will adverse the effects of Aqualyx/lemon bottle as the process is to inflame and destroy the fat cells. If anti-inflammatory drugs are taken, this will massively affect the outcome.
AvoId touching the treatment area for up to 8 hours
wash with mild soap, do not scrub the area, just gentle dabbing for 3-5 days
No sunbeds or spray tans for 7 days post treatment
Use arnica cream if you feel necessary to reduce any bruising for 7 days
'Avoid blood thinners this includes ibuprofen and aspirin.
Hot or cold compress can help reduce swelling
light mineral makeup can be worn after 24 hours if needed
Avoid heavy makeup for 5 days post treatment
No swimming for 3 days post treatment
No sauna or steam for 3 days post treatment
follow a low fat and low carbohvdrate diet and
increase water intake to at least 1.5 litres a day to maximise results

Lemon Bottle fat dissolving is known to be a relatively safe and effective treatment. However. as with any treatment there are or course some things to consider and certain clients may not be suitable.

Who cannot have fat dissolving;

An allergy or intolerance to any of the ingredients in the lemon bottle/aqualyx.
Clients who are Pregnant and or breastfeeding
These treatments are not suitable for people under 18 and not advised on people over 60 as results are likely not to be effective.
Clients with Lipodystrophy (where the body is unable to produce fat)
Clients with Lip-oedema is an abnormal build-up of fat often in the legs and sometimes found in the arms also. The cause is often unknown and liposuction is the only effective way of removal of this stubborn fat.
Clients with Liver and kidney disease or disorders
Uncontrolled Diabetes
Thyroid disorders
Permanent use of anticoagulants
Skin disease and disorders in the target area - psoriasis
eczema & scabies
Scar tissue - we will not treat in scar tissue area until 6 months post healing
Current infection or illness
