Micro-Sclerotherapy is a treatment for those unsightly small veins on the legs. 

 

A drug called a sclerosant is injected directly into the problem veins causing damage which triggers a natural healing response, causing them to fade away over time.

Sclerosants cause damage, or destroy the lining of the vein. The lining of the vein swells and becomes sticky, blood cells clump and attach to the damaged vein wall closing the vein and beginning a healing process which leads to the vein fading away.

 

More than one treatment is often required (but will be discussed during your treatment), as the body will sometimes repair rather than ‘get rid of’ the damaged vein.

Sclerotherapy is a very safe treatment but does require aftercare to make it effective.

Cost:

​

£200.00 for the first treatment - includes compression stockings for your 1st treatment. £180 for any  further treatment (without compression stockings)

​

1-2 treatments are usually required depending on severity.

Results take 3-6 weeks to show.

A prescription will be arranged prior to your appointment for this reason we are unable to accept last minute appointments we require at least 72 hours notice.

 

Who is not suitable:

​

• Clients who are pregnant or breast-feeding

• A history of DVT deep vein Thrombosis

• A previous blood clot

• Uncontrolled diabetes

• Severe Asthma

• Infection on the legs

• Arterial diseases

• Heart problems - weak valves

• Unable to walk

• Known allergy to sclerosants

Risks:

​

Micro-Slerotherapy generally has only a few serious complications.

 

Side effects that can occur include;

 

• Bruising 

• Red raised areas (Hives)

• Small skin sores

• Darkened skin

​

These side effects usually go away within days to weeks.

less common side effects include Inflammation, Blood clot, air bubbles, allergic reaction leading to anaphylaxis.
